1 A special mooting of the Horowhemia Hockey Association wai held at Levin last evening. Present: Messrs. E. W. 'I* Smith (chairman)) W. Broughton, &absn, Horn, and C. H. Judd (hou. secretary). The meoling was called for the purpose of heading a deputation (comprising Messrs. Byron Brown. J. Davidson, Bert Howell, E. H. Claridae, and H. Nicnlson) representing the southern end of the Horowhemia- County, asking for permission to form a new association, or, failing this, a s»bunion. Tho matter was discussed fully, it being pointed out that tho step was sveecssary oil account of Parapai-aumu and Waikauae wishing to join, but who would fail to do so sheiild tk> boundary be too great. The management were unanimous on a fculs-wnion being formed, the boundaries to !)<> as far "south as Wirakino ■ Riding (Major Tatum) for Levin, and the Otal.f.i hoviidary from there to Paekakariki. It- was agreed that affiliation fees, if any, be paid to tho Horowhemia Association by the sulMtmoii, the latter to have full control _of all gate taking?, with the exception of . combined representative matches, when the gms takings would be eotially divided, < During the .season some four hundred yearlings''and 3000 odd brown' trout fry were liberated in various parts of the Horowhemia County, Sbmo 1.500 fry were placed ii). tanks at iho Wererpa. Farm, and wiU be libAatnd as yearljngs iu June. Sixteen, pheasants were liberated in suitable lots, and eleven mallard duck ou, Lake Horowhcwija and at OhoH. \ At the last sitting of the S.Jt. Court several old age pensions were renewed. There is a- good deal of -opposition ajwiijf! focal Maoris to tho proposed .visit of "King" To Sata and his ".Prime Minister" to England. There will probably soon bo a movement on foot in Otakf- to-Vestn'bHsJi 'tho' system. of _ rating on iho imitnprovod value, in lien of making a levy o« the basis of - capital value. It is stated that an &nsiiiiuis will shortly be imported'into Otaki for vise in tho town, and district.
