Tho cost of threshr ing, which was now pai'l by the hour, hatl increased from 3Jd. to 5d., 6d., and even to 9d. per bushel. The late rams had prevented the preparation of the land, and tho liiglicr prices for wool and fat stock 'tended to increaso. The attention to blado shearing at technical schools had turned out a number of competent shearers, and even greater success was exDectcd in future seasons. Referring to the wharf strikes, tho speaker said-that they were over at Timaru before the general strike commenced.
