Some .time ago a cablegram from London reported a statement If Mr, Wijrst<?n Churchill that the Imperial Government was in correspondence With tho Australian Government and theGovernment of New Zealand in regard : to holding a . Naval Defence Conference. Asked last evening whether ho could furnish any additional information on the subject the l'rimo. Minister said that both Canada and the. lin per-; ial Government had expressed them. 1 : selves in favour of a conforenco being held to consider NaVal Defence in tho Paeflte. Australia also favoured the idea. The I'rimo Minister added that he had Ho doubt, that a conference would ho arranged accordingly in tho near future though whether it would be held this year or early next year ho was not abls to say. Tho probabilities., however, were m favour of a conference earl# next jyaar,
