SUN SPOT DISCOVERED.
50,000 MILES IN DIAMETER. By Telegraph—Press Aeoociation—Copyright (Rec. April 2, 9.45 p.m.) Washington, April 1. A sunspot 50,000 miles in diameter has been discovered by the Naval Observatory here. Tile spot is situated in the Solar north latitude. It was reported from Wanganui yesterday that Mr. J. E. Ward, lion, director of 'tho Wanganui Observatory, Imd announced the discovery of a large sunspot, whose approximate dimensions are thirty thousand by fifteen thousand miles solar surface. Mr. Ward says this has been moro or loss quiescent during the past three or four years. The new spot indicates that another period of sunspot activity is approaching.
