SPORTS GROUND RATING
CITY COUNCIL ACTION. • The question of the remission of rates 011 certain Wellington sports grounds was boforo the City Council last night again, "Tho Finance Committee presented tho following report:— . "That they havo fully considered tho various applications made for tho remission of rates 'on sporfs •grounds.in,the'city, and havo to recommend that tho genoral rate ■ only Be remitted on the following conditions:—l. That tho Athletic Tark and Association ground at Kilbirnie bo, thrown open to tho public ;when» not actually being-used . by; tho proprietors. 2. That tho tennis courts and bowling greens affected By this ■ remission be open to tho public, but Jiot for play, and only lvlien play is in progress." Various.members of tho council suggested amendments in theT wording of tile clause, but the. Mayor said that lm realised that it was tho general wish that tho matter should bo referred back to the committee, and brought before the council again when a kind of draft agreement had been arrived at. It was then resolved, on tho motion of Councillor Fletcher, that the rate should be remitted on 'Conditions to be mutually agreed upon by the bodies affected. ■:■■■■
