A most successful sale of work was held yesterday afternomi and evening in the Thorndsm Methodist Schoolroom for the extinction. of the circnit debt. The sale of work was opened in the afternoon by Mrs. A. h- Berdmati, when there was quite a lnrjw attend,moo, whilst iu the. evening the schoolroom was taxed to its utmost capacity. Brisk business was done- by the stalMvoktes both afternoon and cvwiig, ai«l proceedings wero <wll«a>cd hi the eveiiing by numerous competitions and sido-shows, A humorous dialogue, er.!i:>d "My Wife's Relations," was enacted by members of the Mutual Imf rovemfrnt Snciety and caused great aiinisemttnt. Tho following officiated at the-''various stalls; -Fancy-work, MesdaiWs Mcsxham,'Nelscy, and M'Kejttie, and Miss WliitwfeH; plain work, Mo-sdames Robertson, Clark, and Roberts; ftott'ors, Mesitaics Layggr and Von Zantc-n; fairy well, Mrs. Freeman \ lollies, Missos 13- Clark, Jeukiiis, ami M. Coad; rifroihimmts. Mcsdwiios Moxham, sen., Jenkins, i>U<l Hiss 'Dormer; art gallery, Sir. I>. M'K.mme; competitions (various), Mrs. Scatou, Ulisses Lcadbetter, and Daniel, ami Messrs. Scaton anibH.
