An.agreement has been filed between .-■;■' .the/Otago Slaughtermen's Industrial :■ ..■■■■■ Union and : Messrs. W. Kerr and Co'., '■■■ Dunedin abattoirs. It. sets'out that, the week's work shall not exceed 48 hours. '. 'Tho minimum "wages- shall be. as follow •.-Slaughtermen, £3 10s. per -week; i assistant ■ slaughtermen and, .men employed in pithing cattle, £2 10s. When .'an. assistant', slaughterman shall have worked two. years-"beyond'the boys'and ; -, ; youths' limit he 'shall bo paid not .less than £3 10s. Casual slaughtermen shall '■' be paid'iiot less than 12s. per day of eight hours. If employed by the week, ' , casual hands shall be paid not less than ■ £3 10s. per. weekjof 48 hours. Boys and youths may be employed at the discretion of the employer, provided that the.following rates of wages be paid:— 1 ' ■.' Betwepii 14. and 15 years', 13s. per week; ' '•' 15 to 1G years, 155.; 16 and 17 years, 18s.-; 17 and 18.years, £1; 18 and 19 years, £1 55.; 19 and 20 years, £1 10s. • ;'■ ■' 20 and 21 years, £1 15^.■ The proportion of boys and youths to Blaughtermeh is:to bo ono to three or fraction of three. . Overtime shall be paid at the rate of time and a quarter for tho first two hours.: and time and a half afterwards. The agreement, is to come into force on April 1, and continue, in force till March 31, 1917. •'..
