UNION SECRETARY ASSAULTED, (By Telegraph,—Press Asspcia-Uen.) Ttmaru, March 28. The secretary held that Hall was not fijKUicial having only paid the entrance fee. Hall considered ho was, and claimed the right to see. the books-, and as mu-eh right as M-'Loed to haw the keys, as he held that M'Leod was not the legaliy'appoiiitfsd secretary. Ho admitted a slight assault. His Worship regretted that such illfeeling existed, and advised that thefe was a legal *ay of assisting ally rights lie- claimed, .Hall coii- ; tmuittg to claim tSie keys, His Worship said that if lw- did so tho case must go to another Covirt on commitial, for trial by a jury. The keys were then handed to M'Leod, the Magistrate hoping this was' the k-st of the matter. ..Hβ ordered defendant to pay costs, and 1 solicitor's fee, deeming the assault not ; serious cuoiigh to <nat€r a conviction.
