SUFFRAGETTES CREATE AN
UPROAR.
SCUFFLE WITH COUNCILLORS.

A member of ,the Poplar Borough Council, after a discussion' whether to let halls to Stiff ragetten, moved, "Thai the question be now put." Sutfragettes shouted "Cowards I" and hurled scores of stinkpots, , bags of flour, aud other missiles from the gallery. Tho women broke down tho barrier and engaged in a hand-to-hand conflict with the councillors, attempting to use the chairs as weapons. Some flourished life-preservers. The police wero called, but refused to enter on the ground that thoy wero in insufficient strength.' The majority of the councillors.then returned to the Chamber, and tho disturbance was quelled, but business was impossible. ' . ■
