SUPREME COURT.
SESSIONS AT MASTERTON. (By Correspondent) Masterton, March 24. A case in which Arthur William Petherick, livery stablekeeper, was charged 'vifli alleged perjury, arising from evidence given in a licensing case, was concluded in the Supreme Court this afternoon. Much- interest . was manifested in tho case, and when a verdict of not guilty • was returned by the jury there was applause from tho body of the Court.
A case in which, a young woman, named — Rogers, claimed £500.damagds from orio Hanley for breach of promise of marriage was settled by consent, His Honour entering up judgment for' plaintiff for £200.
Decision. was -reserved in a case in which',C. A. Tabutcau , appealed on a lioint of law, against a'decision by Mr. Reid, S.M., in a case in which a promissory note was involved. '
Sitting in divorce, Mr] Justice Edwards_ heard a .'case in . which Alfred Heggio claimed dissoljrtion of marriage from Margartt Heggie. The parties were married at Petoiie in 1888. Respondent was alleged to have left petj.tioner., two; ror , .- three,, years;.,- after the. marriage. She, returned' to him after an absenco of twelve months, but left again in a few months', leaving a iiotc, saying "Good-bye for over." They had never lived together since. A'decree nisi "was granted. .
A decree nisi was also granted in a case in which Evelyn Isabel Johnston, of Gladstone, claimed dissolution of marriage from' Richard Henry Johnston, ofHastings. ;>.-.; ■;.. .-;-.
