THE STORY OF HEAN'S ESSENCE.
BY THE MANUFACTURER.' A QUALIFIED CHEMIST. .. For twenty years, and more, I have made and sold good family cough mixture'. "~ During all those< years the regular teachings of apprenticeship days wero followed. That is, I mixed the medicinal ingredients—the undiluted "essence" of the finished mixture—in proper proportions, added tho necessary water and sweetening, and-bottled.in the usual eighteenpenny size. This size would hold from 2i to 3 ounces. It would require fromseven to eight such bottles to make a pint. Note that carefully. But recently I altered the method of apprenticeship days. ■ I stepped clear away from habit and custom, i In place of 'giving you a cough mixture for family purposes all ready to take, I now mix tho medicinal . ingredients only, and leave you to add the water and sweetening. This part of the finished mixture is done as easily by you in your kitchen as it is in any factory, and the cost enormously reduced. Formerly you bought a pint of good cough mixture by the process of one small bottle at a time. You paid from 10s. to 12s. for it. You really bought a number of unnecessary small bottles, corks, labels, circulars, and outside 'wrappers. You also paid for much labour in the form of bottle-washing, filling, corking, wrapping, and- various handlings. All these things and'labour cost money, and all were useless expense to you. It is true that each item in itself did not amount to much, but it is .'equally true that totalled together, the. unnecessary expenses wero very considerable—about ten shillings on a -pint. . Afy new manufacturing method means that now -you buy a bottle of Hean's Essence—add the necessary water and sweetening at home, use any clean, large, empty, bottle to hold the finished mixture, attach' the spare label sent with each bottle of Hean's Essence, and the result is a.pint of the finest cough, cold, and sore throat remedy you can possibly obtain. This brings the. cost of an ordinary eighteenpenny bottle down to less than fouvpence. Try Hean's Essence to-day. Satisfy yourself that what I say is correct.. Get a bottle, from your chemist or grocer, finish according to the easy directions you will find on label, and then, if you are-not fully satisfied that Hean's Essence makes the best cough mixture for general family purposes you have ever used, send mo the empty bottle and packet ivith your name and address, and I will promptly refund your money iiu full. The saving is yours—His . risk is'mine. That is a guarantee .that makes you safe at all point?. NOTE.—Hean's Essenco does not contain any poison. There is no mornhia, opium, laudanum, paregoric, chlorodyne, or other harmful drug in it. Tt is pure, effective, harmless, economical. It- is now regularly sold by most chemists, but if yours does not yet stock it he can easily obtain froin his wholesaler for you, or sent post free o'n receipt of price—2s.— from G. W. Hean. Chemist, Wan?anui. Wherever you buv bo sure you get Hean's Esssnce, as no other will do.—Advt.
