THE MAYORALTY.
Mr. J..P. LTJKE TO STAND. Tho Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) has decided to allow himself to ho nominated for tho Mayoralty at next month's election. When approached by an influential deputation of businens pcoplo on Tuesday morning, Mr. Luke said that ho was quito prepared to stand again, but felt that ho could onl.r.do. so if his wife' was prepared to undertake tho onerous duties of Mayoress for another year. Mr. Luke has now 'communicated with Mr. Geo. Shirtcliffe, tho chairman of'tliß committee" which formed tho deputation, consenting to bo nominated mice uioro as a candidate for the Mayoralty.
