SHOCKING RECORD.
DEEDS OF TWO BURNHAM BOYS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Timaru, March 20. Before two Justices to-day the two youths, Matthews and Wilson, escapees from Burnham, pleaded guilty to a long list of offences committed after they arrived in South Canterbury. They broke into a hall at Orari, stole two .miniature rifles at.Arowhenua and Opihi, broke into_half a dozen fishing huts, stole provisions and about £5 worth of various articles at Timaru, and tried to steal a motor and fishing launch (to make a trip to Auckland, thoy said, hut could not manage the engine), stealins; tho oil»from two other launches. They stolo tho Harbour Board's dinghy to get from.Olio to another, • left 'it adrift, and it got damaged and-cost £11 Bs. to repair. They also brokojnto the -cool stores and stole provisions. Next they broke open the Timaru Rifle Club's magazine and stole 470 rounds of ammunition/ Both were, arrested sleeping in a straw stack on • a farm at St. /Andrews after breaking into, the Farmers' grain store and stealing some articles! On March 11. they escaped frdm custodv and on the samo or next day broke into tho Defence Department's store, stole two rifles and some ammunition, and broko into a house at Timaru and a tent at Pareora.
