VOGELTOWN'S WANTS.
DEPUTATION TO CITY COUNCIL. Last night the City Council received a deputation of Vogeltown residents, who asked that the approaches to the suburb should be improved. Mr. E. R. Mowbray, tho spokesman, said that Vogeltown was ono of tho most neglected parts of the city; thero was not a footpath anywhere. Tho suburb would never be well populated until there were better approaches to it. Tho present approaches were by way of Hutchison Road and by a track from Hall Street. Mr. Mowbray suggested that tho tram service should bo extended from Wallace Street to Voeoltown, and thence to Mdrnington. Tho oxtenston of the<line would open up a great area of unoccupied ground. There was an area in the locality which could easily be converted into a city playground.
Councillor Godbor suggested that tlto question of linking up the suburb with tho city bv means of a motor-bus service should be considered.
The deputation's requests were referred to the Outlying Districts Committee for consideration.
The Mayor remarked that Vneeltnwn was an old-established part of Wellington, and said that its needs would bo carefully considered.
