MEETING OF THE COUNCIL-.' (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Palmerston, March 19. ■The New' Zealand Jersey Cattle Breed-, ers' Council met on Wednesday evening and yesterday morning. Tho meeting was attended by Messrs. W. H. Booth (Carterton), T. (Carnarvon)j W. V. Harkncss, and R. J. Linn (Tafanaki),, A. E. Wilkinson (Auckland), — Hall (Matatoki), and AVatson (Canterbury).' ~/■•' . • After the consideration of a letter from the Department of Agriculture in relation to-the Stock Act of 1908, and tho question of branding, tho' meeting resolved not td take advantage of the Act.- ,= i %' >. i*t::;\
It was agreed that a list'of;;all cows' with authenticated yearly;, c records: should be'published in the forthcoming Herd Book, each cow to be numbered, and entitled to the affix "A.R.M.," to the name, of its registered progeny. It was decided to hold the next'annual meeting at Wanganuj on July 15.' It was resolyed to give a gold medal to the cows coming first in the different classes under the authenticated yearly tests carried out by the Department of : .Agriculture,; and silver medals to each; ■ obw.-comiug second, and bronze medals 'for thirds. Two medals were allotted to the Taranaki A. and P. Association and. one. to. Mr. P. S. M'Rae in ths .register merit class. :..It was resolved 1 that the photographs on-' view'- at the 1 Auckland Exhibition be displayed V.-at the next Winter Show at Palmerston. .
