Fisheries, is chairman of the Biological Board of Canada, and representative of the Canadian International Fisheries' Commission under the Treaty between Great Britain-and 'tho United States. He is coming to , New Zealand' under engagement with the Government to report on our coastal, river, «nd lake fisheries. Up till tho present he has been occupied with Dr. Starr Jordan in the international negotiations on tho boundary fisheries question betwoen the United States and Canada, and but for the slow. progress of these negotiation he would probably have been in New Zealand in January last. "It will, bo my desire to inspect some,of the more important rivers and lakes and make such a thorough inspection as will enable me ; j» report fully and set forth a system of superintendence preservation and [ expansion of your fishery resources,, on lines which have proved so successful in the Dominion of Canada," wrote Prof(>ssor Prince in a. recent letter to tho Government. "I know that I shall find your fisheries intensely interesting, and I am of opinion from the literature which I.have read that they will assume firstclasa importance in tho near future."
