MIRAMAR BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The fortnightly meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was held last evening and was attended by the Mayor (Mri F. Townsend), Councillors Stone, Tracy, and Dr. Edith Huntly. With reference to a request for as-] sistaiico in purchasing Day's Bay Bush it was reported that at a meeting of the Works Committee, it had been decided that, while the council was in sympathy with the movement, it did not see its way to contribute. , A reply was received f rom >tho Minister of Justice in answer to a request urging the necessity for a resident constable in tho borough.' The letter stated that the matter would receive careful consideration. The Reserves Committee reported that they had met a, deputation from the Seatouh/Amateur Athletic Club on March 11. It was reported .that a'meeting of the Financo Committee had been held to'consider tho flotation of tho balance of debentures of tlie' sewerage additional loan of £6000, and the sewerage extension loan of £3000. It had beeiv decided that the BaJik of New Zealand should be asked to>advance a-ftr-ther sum of £3000 against the loans and also askod to undertake the sale of the debentures. The Works Committee reported. that it had been decided :to appoint Mr. Longmore. to act on the council's behalf at a .sitting of the Assessment Court, which is to be held shortly; that the use of Soatoun Park had been granted to the AVellington Letter-car-riers' Social Club to-morrow; v and that the application of Mr. Eggers for an extension of time within which to connect the drainage of his house with the sewers be referred to the borough engineer. Tho District' Fund Account was reported to have a debit balance of £10 13s. 3d.; that of tho Power Supply Loan a debit balance of £11 Os. 5d., and the Improvements Loan Account a credit balance of £19' Is. 3d.
