SOME FIGURES.

RETURNS NOT YET COMPLETE,

As> financial matters in connection with tho Citizens' Carnival aro not yet nearly adjusted) it is too early to stato the amount which is likely to be netted for tho work of constructing Central Park. However, Mr. H. Amos,"the obliging secretary, was ablo to supply some figures yesterday which (except m tho instances noted), ho was careful to mention, were gross revenue returns. It was impossible to supply net figures yet. Tho gross returns from tho stalls were as follow •— ' '

Kefreshments, £133 16s. Id.; toys and fancy goods, £77 10s.; tobacco and cigarettes, £36 7s. Id.; flowers and fruit, £12 14s. 2}d.; sweets (not available) ; total to date, £260 7s. 4Jd. Side-shows—Houp-la (amateur), £61 18s. ;• Aunt Sally. £25 6s. 7d.; guessing, £16 3s. lOd. (clear profit); fortunetelling, £13 15s. (clear profit); slot machines, £12 13s. 9d.;. ocean wave, £11 135.; wireless, £8 Bs. 3d.; American cane ring and Indian dart game, £28 9s. 4d.; Houp-la (professional), £20; kicking football, £5 7s. 6d.; total, £203 15s. 3d-

The amounts received in cash at tho gates were as follow: —Wednesday, £45 fis.; Thursday, £12; Friday, £10 9b: 3d.; Saturday, £10 9s. These amounts do, not, of course, represent tho attendance, as, from the very first,_ tho sellers of art union tickets, which entitled people to admission, were very active right up to the gates.

Mr. Amos states that liis principal worry now I*3 to get iu the art union books. He hopes to have them all in time to call a meeting of the executive committee- some tamo next week, when a draft statement of the finances may bo presented. In the meantime there were ma/ty attractions coming on. The baby show 13 to be held at the Concert Chamber this afternoon, and the skating carnival at the Vivian Street Rink, and the swimming carnival at Te Aro Baths both take place this evening. A boxing tournament is yet to be held in connection with the Carnival.
