ATTACKS ON FOREIGN
RESIDENTS.

Spring Hice) has complained that the rebels at Chihuahua havo driven out an Englishman named Sydnam and attempted to destroy his property. Mr. W. J. Bryan immediately telegraphed tho American Consul to' protest to Genera! Carranza. (Ilea March 9, 10.15 p.m.) New York, March 8. A number of Texan rangers from Austin City crossed the Mexican boundary and! disinterred tho body of Clements Vorgera, a Texan rancher, who' had been lured into Mexico by Mexican Federal soldiers, and brought the body back to American soil for interment. Maxfco City, March 8. ' It is reported from Torrcon that tho .rebels wero completely routed in a big battle, leaving 400 dead on the field. "Times" and Sydney "Bun" Services. Mexico City, March 8. General Villa ordered a nooso to he placed round the neck of General Luis Terraza' s son and hoisted -him from his feet sevoral times' until he signalled lip would pay tho ransom of £130,000. 'Tho money was paid, but Terraza was kept a prisoner.
It was previously reported that Gpnprar Luis Terraza had appealed to the United States to save his son, who was held by General Villa for a ransom of half a miilitn pesos. Terraza declared that ho was penniless owing to tho Constitutionalists confiscating his immense wealth. The rebels partially strangled bis son until ho (the son) personally agreed to pay half a million of liis own money. The Tcmainder was then demanded from the general.
