CATHOLIC MISSION.

BY THE MARIST FATHERS. A combined mission conducted by four Fathers of tho Marist Order was opened, yesterday at St. Joseph's Church, Buckle Street, and at St. Mary's of tho Angels, Boulcott Street. Tho priests who are to officiate and preach at tho service's throughout the four weeks' course of the mission are tho Rev. Fathers J. A. O'Conncll, J. Taylor, T. M'Carthy, and A. Herring. Tho (services yesterday afternoon wera for children, and both churches werewell filled. The children's mission will •continue till next Thursday, when the women's mission begins, and alter ten days the men's mission will commence, and will conclude on April 1.

In the evening at St. Mary of the Angela tho Roy. Father T. M'Carthy preached a preliminary mission sermon. It was an eloquent address, and wag listended .to by ono of the largest congregations which lias been present at the church for some time. The preacher's subject was on tho necessity of missions and tho extraordinary graces attending them. He quoted the words of St. Peter to tho peoplo of Corinth, that tliey were ambassadors of Christ, and exhorting them to "receive not tho.grace of God in vain.". Although 2000 years had elapi-cd since tho words were, uttered, they (the missioners) camo with a similar call. "To-day tho Divine message is entrusted to us," continued Father ATGVtiiy, "and although you have already received a call to the true faith, and although you have already tho ordinary means of sanctilication, you liav'o yet to reckon with the power of temptation, and tho attractions and vices of the world."
