In viow of tho assurjiiico made by yourself," adds Mr. Groshaiu in his letter to the Minister, "to the A to JJ Committeo on Septembor 18, 1013, that tho Government have deoided. to grant to Mr. Gresham an annua] allowanco in consideration of his part.'■: services, and in view, also, that Parliament, when tho vote of £200 was submitted to them, were not made aware of the- statement so made by you as to an annual allowance; I must respectfully 7 protest' against my being compelled to sign such a voucher and additional acquittance. I protested verbally at the time that I signed the said voucher and acquittance."
