Sir Kinloch Cooko asked Sir Edward Grey to'.inquire whether Australia would accept responsibility for the administration of the Now Hebrides. Sir Edward Grey said tliat it was impossible to make'the suggestion without asking whether they would themselves undertake to purchnse the island or make'an.exchange.of territory.
