••'-.. . .Other Matters. . , - : The By-laws .Committee' reported that they had reconsidered tho proposal of a property-owner at Onepu Eoad, Kilbirnie, for the subdivision-of land,, and had visited ihe locality, and were of opinion that the scheme was. in tho best interest: of the city. They therefore recommended that consent to same be granted. The proposal includes the erection of dwellings at the rear-..0f others, witlv'a 16ft: frontage ui: lieu of 20ft. as provided by the by-laws, and is recom-mended-by. the City Engineer. , - -■ ■
■ Authority- was granted for tenders to fee invited for tho body of the chassis for. the ■ fire brigade. It was recommended that the contractor for the supply of the chassis be granted an extension of time of three weeks, within which to complete the contract. •■•■■•
The tender of Messrs. -Grapes. and' Jliley for a motor chassis for the Lighting Department was accepted, this being the 'lowest suitable tender. .
