• A parade of Wellington Area Group .Cadets was held at Athletic Park on Saturday, and, judging by the display of physical drill ami ceremonial ma rolling, tho public w.ill bo given a treat at Newtown Park next Saturday aficnsoou at tho Citizens' Canmjl, The parade was held /or the purpose of instructing the various companies iri brigade work, as well as to make titera conversant with manoeuvres which aro to bo held next Saturday afternoon, and during l the coining visit,of General Sir lan Hamilton, Inspector-General of Oversea Forces. As a matter of fact, it was ..the first parade of .Wellington's Cadet Brigade, and taking, this into consideration, rank and file acquitted selves capably. Next Saturday's brigade parade will be tho last before General Hamilton arrives here, • ■ There was a muster of §63 officers and Cadets—practically the full strength of tho brigade. Tho staff officers were.: Captain C. G. PowJes, N.Z.S.G., in'command ; Major Temperly, 1.G.5.; and Sergt.-Majors Power, Ryan, Corkill, and Wcichern. Tho parad'o state tvas27 officers, 86,-non-coma., and 846 Cad-eta. Tho brigado consisted of fourbattaiions of four companies, each, making 16 oootpanies in all. No, i battalion consisted of four, companies of Wellington College Cadets. No. 2 battalion--St. Patrick's College Cadets; St; James's, Kilbirmcv, Cadets; St. Anne's (Brooklyn) Cadets ; St. Thomas's (Newtown)'Cadets. No. : 3 battalion—Y.M.C.A. Cadets; Scout Cadets, Boys'.lnstitute; No. 1 Technical School Cadets; No. 2 Technical .School;' St. Vincent's and Mount Victoria Cadets. No. 4 battalion—Thorndou Cadets; Karon and JoiuvsonviiloOadots • Petone Technical School, and Post ami Telegraph Cadets;. Petone and Lower Hutt Cadets. In their third and fourth battalions some of'-ft® Eompanies had to ' bo brought up to their strongtiij h) amalgamating two, and, in one case, three separate companies together. This was found necessary far purposes a{ the ceremonial part of the parade. : After the brigade had fallen in at Rov Street, it was marched through tho streets to Athletic Park. On arrival tho companies' were. drawn, up in review orderj and after having been put through various drill's, a • march past took place. After Several evolutions had been gone through, the brigade was moved out in extended a in] physical drill was practised, the orders being given by Sefgt.-Maj-ar Parties, lato of the Grenadier Guards, It Was a fine spectacular display, and each company'acquitted itself creditably. Tho recent strike, and later the Christmas intervening, seriously interfered with tho ,wbrk of training tho Cadets, and taking these happenings into consideration, Saturday's parade was an cyo-opener to those-* who witnessed tho various movements and exercises.
