A concert was given in His Majesty's Theatre last ■ night by the recentlyformed Wellington Philharmonic Orchestra, of which Mr. Christian Hclleniann is conductor. Tho orchestra is not so large as the Professional Qrchostra, but-as it is composed to'some of the best professional musicians in the city, it should develop into a very artistic* combination. Last night the orchestra played an attractive programme of music. * Thoir be3t performance was in tho selection from Puccini's "La 13olieme." Other orchestra items vcro: Czardas, from "Coppefia Ballet" -(Offenbach), "Chanson do Nuit," and "Chanson do Matin" (Elgar), Barcarolle, from- "Talcs of T.ldlfinan" (Offenbach), "Liebcstrauine" (Von Blof), and "Pique Damr" (Suppc).
