Artillery held thoir annual sports meeting on the Petone Recro'ation, grounds yesterday, Tho men are at present encamped at Fort Kolmifne, but it ia customary to proceed to Petone durrofi the camp and occupy the mormrig.intt infantry drill and the.afternoon with a sports meeting. -The results of tile various racesheld yesterday are-as follow:—
100 Yards: France, 1; Bolton, 2. 220 Yards: Dent, 1; May, 2. NoveLi'.v. Race: Pilcber, 1; Dixon, 2. Stjoad Relay Race: E Sub-section, 1. Three-legged Race: Davis and, Valentine, 1. Royal 3vew Zealand Artillery 100 Yards: Ma'ckay, I;.Saunders, 2. N.CQ.'s Race: Rod" well 1 (a very popular win); .Pilcher, 2. 440. Yards: Bolttin, 1; Wilkinson, 2. Officers' Race: Captain 1, Siuco; the •commeueeirjent. cf the camp a billiard tournament (won by Sergfc.-Major Finlay), and two card tournaments (won by Parkin and Roberts) have been'inaugurated. Ob Wednesday evening a most successful dance was held.
