His Honour tho Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) presided in the Supreme Court yesterday," and dealt with a claim made by James Stolin to have a certain pieco of land Sold for tho purpose of terminating an partnership between Stelin arid William Henry Fordham. The land concerned is a pieco 14 acres in extent in tho Evans Bay district. which in 1910 changcd hands at a price of -£5000. Stolin owned seveneighths of the property, and Fordhnm 'one-eighth. Stelin was described as a commission agent and- 1 Fordham as a commercial traveller. Mr. T. C. A. Hislop appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. T. Young for the defendant. Mr. Young maintained that thoro was no partnership, and he would ask for dismissalof the claim. The plaintiff's action was an attempt to force tho defendant out.- All the defendant wanted was to get his share of tho land, and lie 'haif Offered to tako that nt valuation. Stelin-stated that defendant's agont had. repeatedly placed oltstacles in tho wav of an arrangement being mado. His Honour pointed outthat it might savo expense to both parties if a settlement could bo arrived at. He adjourned tl|e Court to allow an opportunity for settling the matter, and later in the day counsel stated that tho parties had coino ty 'fin agreement.
