Tlmaru, February 23. A serious firo occurred early this morning. Tho-shop of W. A. Pearson and Co., men's outfitters, was completely destroyed, and tho shops adjoining ,(L. B. James, chemist, Georgo Pearson, fancy goods, and Ilutton and C0.,.-booksellers) wero a good deal damaged by lire and water;. Tho insurances of W. A. Pearson and Co. wore: With tho Royal, £500; Commercial Union, £350; Alliance, £150; Norwich Union, £200; South British, £100; Phoenix, £100. On tho building (M'Keown's trustees); £500. The damago to James's and Hntton and Co.'s is estimated at £350, covered by insurance.-' W. A. Pearson and Co. estimate their loss at £1000 above tho insuranco.
CAVEBSHAM FIRE. Dunedin, February 24. Fire occurred early this morning in a four-roomed dwelling-house at Caversham, owned by S. S. Myers and occupied by S. Munns. Two rooms were completely destroyed. Insurances: House, £250 in the New Zealand office; furniture, £150 & the Victoria,
