Christie, who died' in the' public hospital as a result of a tram accident in Cuba Street, was opened yesterday afternoon by Mr. W. G. S.M. Evidence of identification was giveii, and Dr. Eraser, of the hospital staff, also, was called. The inquiry was then adjourned till Saturday morning. MAORI HUSBAND'S MOODS. Auckland, February' 19. • The inquest concerning the death of Toko Toko Wirihana (26), a Native, who was found dead in his bed yesterday morning, resulted' in a verdict of suicido while of unsound mind. The evidence indicated that deceased) had cut his throat as a result of domesrtic troubles. According to the sworn evidence of his wife, Wirihana was frequently overtaken with fits of jealousy. He. had been cruel to her on several occasions, she said, and had repeatedly told her that he intended his own life. He had also threatened to buy cartridges for. his revolver and then make an end of both of them. • ' Auokland, February 19. ' A girl of nine years named Dorothy Betts, was drowned while bathing at Oneliunga to-day. She got out of her depth, and disappeared in five feet of water.' ' > I _■ BURIED UP. TO THE NECK. Whilst cleaning out a drain at Northland yesterday morning a Corporation employee named E.' H. Harlen was buried up to the neck by a fall of efi'rth. "Assistance was at once procured, and the man was dug out, none the worse, for his experience other than a •few small bruises on the leg. 'An elderly man named William Parnell, a t fruiterer in Willis Street, dropped dead in his shop about 7 o'clock last evening. He had been attended by Dr. Pollen for the last two years for heart disease, and it is improbablo that, any inquest as to tho- cause of death will bo necessary. Deceased was ''about-50 years of age. ' '
