'On January 19 a man named Jlenry Feme Hopgood called at the police station at Bowcn Hills and stated that his wife had been trying to poison him, and that be had killed her in. a timber yard. . The police investigated, and found the dead body of Bridgot Hopgood, with two wounds on the left side of the forehead. .' •Hopgood has now been tried, and found not guilty of the murder of his wife on the ground of insanity. An order was made that he should be detained during the pleasure of the Governor.
