CRICKET. Australian" match takings. A meeting of the Wellington Cricket Association was held last evening. Mr. ,C. G. Wilson presided. . It was reported that the takings at the gates for tho three days on wiikh the Australians played here amounted to £287 18s. Wellington's share of the gate was'£6o net, and Australia's £172 14s. 9(1. Saturday's gate amounted to approximately £189. It was decided, to write to tho City Council , complaining of tho manner in which tho south was provided for last Saturday. The chairman said that there was a shortage of passes, and that; in the iirst instance, the man oh that gate only'luuL 200 tickets for distribution. He stated that on of the shortage of passes a considerablo number of-people gained admis- ' sion to. the.grcmnd without authority. Continuing, tho chairman said tlijt there was no complaint'against the man who was on the gate. Baybreta) has received a challenge from the Wangsmii Rowing Cluh. to row. the Waijganui Boating Club for the Somniem'lle Shield on the Waiiganui River on March 28.
