FIRES.
. — 4 MATAURAFIRE. (By Telezranh.—Press Association.) Cofe, February 17. A eix-roomed house, tenanted by E. J. Ladbrook, and owned by John Waddell, was destroyed by firo at Matanra on Saturday night. Tho family was absent at the time, and nothing was saved. Insurances: £150 oft. tho house and £150 on the furniture, both in the Alliance office. TWO DISASTROUS FIRES. '(By Tdcgrapli.—Special Correspondent) Wanganui, February IG. . Two disastrous tires occurred fit KaiIwi on Saturday night. Tho now Mara* hau dairy factory was burned to the ground, nothing being saved, and tho beautiful scenie reserve near tho township was destroyed by a, firo which was caused by sparks from passing railway, engines. It is understood that an immediate start wilt be made to build a new' dairy factory, but tho interruption of operations, nevertheless, will bo rather serious for suppliers.
