In a riot at Southead, Indiana, seven • persons wore soriously injured, and nearly one hundred were hurt. When twenty-five policemen tried to aid tho sheriff to carry out the order of Judge Fink, that the Rev. • Stanislaus Gruza ' should bo placed in charge of Saint Casimus Polish Roman Catholic Church, a mob of 200 men and women, after righting for two hours, prevented tlio efforts of- Father Gruza to take possession of tho church. . The fire,department was called out ■~ to help the police, but their efforts ,■ were unavailing, the mob threatening to cut tho hose. Father Gruza was appointed to tho church a year ago. Tho people then objected, and asked the Bishop for another priest. Tho request was refused, and the case was taken to court. The Judge ordered that Father Gruza should; have possession.
