' Alphonse Bertillon.. Chevalier of tho. Legion of Honour, was born in Paris in 1853, and founded his system of mensuration in 1680. His publications include;— "Ethnographic Moderne," "Idftutifjcntion Anthropometriqu*." "La Gcmparisoii des ecrifiires et ridenliflcation Grjriliiciile," etc.
