Eight hundred vicr tims'are.iu hospital at Toul (a firstclass military, port 14 miles west o_f Nancy, tho former capital of Lorraine) and five hundred at Nancy. Many other 'garrisons are also affected.- ~"''.. - There havo been numerous deaths. Tho epidemic is duo to overcrowding, caused by tho presence of 185,000 extra recruits, and delay in the constructing of new barracks.
