IMPORTANT MOVEMENT ON FOOT. As thi> traiii service between Wellington and Jlirarrnir has for, soriie time heen considered by tho Miramar Borough Council to be more or less unsatisfactory, the Mayor of Miramar {Mr. F, Town send) has coil suited frith tho Mayor fll'-Wellington (Mr. J. P. Luke) "iespecting some' alteration in tho existing arrangements with tlio idea of- bettering' the conditions of' transport. It is understood that as a. basis .of. negotiation it- was proposed t-hat the city should either purchase- or lease the borough lines, or that the city should allow the. borough' to' run its own cars' over certain sections of tlje ciy lines, so as to enable it to provide a more satisfactory service between tho borough awl a".'given, .point'in; the city (say (Jourtenay- Place)'. It- is understood that the Tramway Board favours the city securing, a lease of the lines, a.nd taking over the eontrol'of the.whole service, and, -to that 1 end, the board is now going thoroughly into the affairs of the Miramar Borough Council's tramway affairs. ■
