If there is one : thing that everyone takes for granted in Now South' Wales, it is the Bib!c-in-State- ■ schools system. ■ •..--..' • -Asked by, Bishop Averill. to explain the system in vogue, Mr.' Holmnn eahled-Uio • Director of, Education in Sydney; who replied that -ministers of all denominations were permitted to Rive religious instruction' during school 'hpura for not more than one hour per day; that tjie teachers give , Bible lessons from the Old and New Testament readers as part of the regular curriculum, and that, except for Bomnn Catholic children, there-are practically no withdrawals under the conscience clause.
