STATE ADVANCES.

REFORM GOVERNMENT'S RECORD Particulars of the loans made by the State Advances Department since. the ipresent Government took office- werb .supplied to a reporter -yesterday by the Hon. J»s: Allen (Minister of Finance). During tho nineteen months which ended on January 31, 1914, 31G.6 loans were made by the Advances to Settlers' branch, the amount in question being £1,420,385. Advances to workers during the same period numbered 1604, and totalled £522,335. The total amount advanced by. the two branches during the nineteen months was £1,048,720. During the eighteen months which ended on December 31, 1018, the local authorities branch granted 317 loans, totalling £019,020. The Minister is of. opinion that the volume of lending above disclosed is bning fully maintained at the oresant time.
