Melbourne, February 12. Speaking at the Victoria League reception, Earl Grey said that in England there existed a,very good opinion of Australja. It was very evident that Australians thought themselves tho best people in the world. Perhaps when they had learnt More they might lay claim to tho distinction, but that time was not now. In any case, Australians must not flatter themselves 'they were better than tho British: they had a good way to go before that could be eaid.
