HIGH COMMISSIONERSHIP.
.'[" A;CABffi]p POSITION. Hie suggestion, emanating from Canada, that the High ConimissioneraWp should ho a Cabinet position, and that the holder of the position should have a scat on the Imperial Defence Com-' mittoe, is one that Mr. Cook, the Commonwealth 'Prime Minister, is deeply interested in. . ■ "I think the matter is wortfi serious consideration," said Me Cook. "I am not now so much concerned as to whether the fligli Commissioner should he a member of the Cabinet as with the possibility of his being given a seat on the Imperial Defence Committee. That strikes me as beinjj a feasible and reasonable proposition. Iforeov-sr, I see no reason whatever, why the Minister- of Defence, in each of ; the Dominions, should not bo offieio members of'the . Imperial Defence Committee. Probably, the ultimate evolution of an Imperial body to deal with Imperial ques-r tions may coma about, in other words, it is quite as likely'to grow as to be made. ■ . "Anyhow, the suggestion is a, very important one, and is wel] worth Serious consideration. There isno subject more difficult an.d delicate to deal' with and.any suggestion of the kind should be welcomed and looked at earnestly and sympathetically."
