CITIZENS' CARNIVAL.
■■ ; *■■ ' ■'' ■■■ , THE SIDE SHOWS. A meeting of the Sideshow iSub-com-mitteo of the Citizens' Carnival Committee was held jin the Town Hall on Tuesday evening/ Mr. George Frost presiding. Mrs. M'Vicar, who is in charge of ttte Baby Show, reported that the I'hinkei Society would have much pleasure in assisting ths show. Jt was de~ ■ cicled to allot IS prizes for competition, /and' Mrs. M'Vicar announced'that a goeart had already been presented; for that purpose. ■ Miss Young's rccomttiGndativOi)', to the effect that the photographic competition ■ho lapsed was adapted, and Miss,ioung!s ■ name was added to the carnival for- ! tune-telters'. Mr. George Frost reported that the ■ executive would not entertain »a proposal For universal fancy costume, and ■ that tliis section could please thornSelves; the lion, secretary was instruct^ ■ed to bring; the matter up for disous- ' slon at.the next.meeting. Mr. Frost : also reported that the Excaiitive had the question of a "Queen of Carnival" j already in hand. ' The hon, secretary was instructed to make a written' application for £30 to carry on the wurk of the sidc 7 sha\v section, this being the sum voted for exipsnscs'at the last carnival. .. Mr. R. 'B. Grange was requested to assist the Side-show Committee with descriptions' of any, novelties in sideshows that sh-iuld come under his notice while visiting the ..Exhibition at 'Auckland. . ' .
