' .COUNCILLOR'S POSITION, A protracted discussion took place at the meeting of tire Karori Borough Council last evening, consequent upon a motion moved by Councillor Boyes as follows-"That, as Councillor Henderson is interested in the Jfclbunio- and Karori Motor Bus Co., and is tak'ng an active part in- persuading Karori residents tu ride in tho buses, he should be asked to resign froiii tiio Tramivnys' 00-m.mitteo.'' . _, In speaking to his ■motion, -Gaundl.lor Boyes stated that Councillor Bewlefson had to his knowledge gone out (if bis way to induce residents to rido in the buses, instead of in tlio cars. Ho thought that tho Lusts wore a distinct boon to ratepayers. As regards the charges mado against him, he had simply directed a resident's attention to tho fact that to take tic bus. on a certain occasion would bo more convenient'than tiro waii.. The rate, payers had been continually demanding a shorter route, and aiow that it was provided tlio- council was against it, The buses had dono good to • tho borough, and would do st-ill more. Ho suggested that a tramway board should be set sip, and that ho would be pleased if they would leave his name out of it. lio bore no animosity to Couticil'pr Boyes in the matter. (Applause.) Councillor Davies thought that Councillor Henderson was quite mistaken in believing that tho council as a whole Was against hirti- Ho was glad that Councillor Henderson had suggested a tramway board, aijd lie hoped that tho engineer would have a scat thereon. Councillor Sfcegg regretted that tho motion had been brought forward. Ho svould vote against it. The Mayor thought that Councillor Boyes had been rather hasty in bringing the motion. Ho considered tho tiling as something iii ttis Jlatu.ro of a "stonn iu a teacup." . Councillor Boyes stated in reply that ho thought it his duty-as a councillor to' bring tins matter up. It was not right, iie considered that a councillor representing the,ratepayers on fc Tramway Committee* should be interested in a rival concern. He asked leave to withdraw his motion, but on Conncillur Henderson objecting, the motion was put, ami lost, Councillor Boyes alone supporting it.,
