Longbus.h. one evening last week, on the occasion of their departure frojn 'the district, 'fhe gathoring took place at Mr. Bannister's residence, and during tho evening tho presentation, which consisted of a beau,tiful clock, was made by Mr. Bannister in an appropriate speech. The members of Loyal Heart of Oak Lodge of Oddfellows, and the Hope, of Carterton lentj 1.0 Riteaded by the . Carterton Brass Band, held a church parade on Sunday morning to > tho Methodist* Church, where the Rev. C. H. Standage preachdd ait impressive sermon. Tho Hon. James Alien, Minister of Education, accompanied bv Sir'-Walter -Buchanan, M:l'., and Mr, A. W, Hogg, members _of tho Wellington Education Board, visited the Cartefton District High School on Monday morning. In honour of the Minister's visit, the children were 'given half a day's holiday.
