The New Zealand' Amateur ■ Athletic Championship Meeting was held on the , Caledonian Ground, to-day.' The at ten- 1 dance numbered about 2000, Taking it all round, the sport was of a high class, i though, in a number of events, the fields wore very small. Wellington, the present holders of the shield, sent down a strong team, Martis, W.Uiou, Ddylo, and Hudson proving a very solid quartet. Hudson ran a very fiug race in the three-mile championship. Going to the front early, he gradually increased Ins lead until, at the close of tlio second last lap, he was leading Fry by about 15t) yards, llcatson was then 40 yards fstrtfeer back, and Hudson easily maintained his advantage to the finish;winning in 1 2-ssec. faster time than that recorded by Bcatson in his winning effort over the same distance at. the Australasian championships.
