Tho Labour Conference, on the motion of Mrs. Seary, by 62 votes to 26, appointed a 1 deputation to wait on tho Government to urgo fullor recognition of women's rights, .Tho debate was exhilarating, and at times exciting Several male delegates opposed the motion, their speeches being 'punctuated by shrill female shouts. The mo ;er claimed that Labour was in power solely on account of tho women's support. Women wore not in the Labour movement for fun, but to improve their position. There was a movement afoot to send some more members to the Legislative Council. Why not send women? They demanded recognition,' and it whs ah insult and a humiliation' to- be treated as they wero now. She warned the Conference that if things were not altered there would bo a split in the Labour ranks as serious as that which existed in Victoria,
