TO MEET AGGRESSION.
THE EMPLOYEES' DEFENCE FUND. (ByTelecnurti.—Pr««s A«io6liitlos.) Auckland, February 6. .A circnlar letter was.received "at a meeting of the City Council from the Auckland Employers'. Association, urging that the recent industrial upheaval had shown the absolute necessity of organisation for united action far the purpose of defence against aggressive action on the part of labour organisations. It was proposed tliat employers should set apart annually a specific proportion of their income towards the formation of a defence fund to rooet claims incurred in opposing unwarranted attacks. Tho average trado unionist, according to official returns, contributed per cent, of his gross income towards the maintenance of liis organisation, and similar objects. It was suggested that a contribution of -} per cent of the annual wages bill (excluding salaries of £250 and over) would ho sufficient to gradually build up an efficient defence fund and provido for administrative expenses. In tho meantime the letter was formally received.
