RAILWAY RETURNS
HOLIDAY SEASON TRAFFIC. The railway returns for the four weeks ondhig on January 3 were gazetted last night. They show that the revenue for tho period' was slightly less than i.u tlio sanio four weeks of the previous year, duo no doubt to the dislocation consequent on tho strike. Tho actual figures wero £355,419, as against £365,254. The expenditure was £202,580, as against £?03,452 i Tb& total revenue and expenditure on the various lines from April 1 last to Ja.nuary 3 wcro as follow; —
