February 5, 8.15 p.m.) , London, -February' 4; The sensational statement, made by Sir George Kekewich m October last, that-titles were sold to political and other favourites, is corroborated by Mr. Dj A. Thomas, ex-nicmbor for Me'rthyr'J'ydvil. Speaking at London, lie said that of toil men who had changed their political leanings sinco 1006 ho was the only one who hnd not rccoivcd either an office of honour or a title. -Olio gentleman had agreed to pay for a knighthood in three instalments (ho saitl)j but'unfortunately for tlio party funds ho discontinued the payments aftor the first ono. Mr. -Thomas instanced the case of a whole family that had changed their politics, and declared that two peerages went to that family. Under the prcseni system a member of Parliament _ had to go the whole hog or bo ostracised.
