FLOWER SHOW AT KARORI

• THE PRIZE LIST. Tho anrjial e.bow of tho Karon and Makara Horticultural Society was opened at tho Parochial Hall, Karon, on Wednesday afternoon by Mr. '0. Cathie, Mayor of Karori. As a display of what tho district could produce, the show was a decided success, tho exhibit from the conservatories of Mr. S. Kifkenldio being most effectively staged and greatly admired, as also was tho exhibit of plants ami cat flowers .sent in by tho Hon. C. J. Johnston. Tho display of roses, sweet, pens, and carnations was remarkably good for tho season, Mrs. : G. H. Darfcs . obtained first honours for roses, _M.i.ss Tustin for sweet, peas, and Mrs. Fisher for carnations. Mr." 0. E. Dry den and Mrs. J. H. Shine also sent some good exhibits in these classes.

Nowcomboobtained first honours in the competitive class for collection of vegetables. A collection sent in lor exhiMiio.it by Mr. "W. ®. Pitsent was also of first-class quality. Jackson and Son, ot Vogeltown, sent a magnificent collection of gladioli.,. which -amongst cut flowers was 0110 of the attractcona of the -slioW, snd for which a. certificate <>f merit w-a-s awarded.
