FIRES.
OUTBREAK AT PETONE. At an early hour yesterday morning a sii-roomcd house oir tho Potonc Esplanade, owned by tho South Pacific Mortgage Co., and occupicd by Mr- J. Wilson, was slightly damaged by fire. On the arrival of tho brigade tlio fire had a. fair hold in a bedroom, but was promptly extinguished,. . The house is insured in tlve State Office for £300. and •the fiirnituro in the Atlas Co. for £200. It is thought that a lighted eandlo coniing in contact tritb a curtain was responsible for the outbreak. Very little datnage- Was done.
